Guitar

Born and raised in Marin County, California, Darryl had a passion for music from childhood. Starting as a drummer, he quickly got involved with bands to enjoy the passion and to perform. This translated to a personal investment in the study and commitment of music to improve the craft.

Having performed with a variety of musicians, Darryl was introduced to the guitar. That introduction brought a new and exciting challenge to him. Now influenced by Rock, Rock/Blues and Funk, Darryl found that these styles spoke to him. Artists and bands that influenced him as a guitar player were Alvin Lee of Ten Years After, Eric Clapton of Cream, Dickey Betts of The Allman Brothers Band, James Brown, The Average White Band, Tower of Power to name a few.

But the Funk style was very intriguing to Darryl, so he found his way to the Bass guitar. Darryl found this exciting and familiar also being a drummer. The Bass was a natural fit. Artists and bands that influenced him as a bass player were Chris Squire of YES, Leo Lyons of Ten Years After, Larry Graham of Graham Central Station, Marcus Miller, Rocco Prestia of Tower of Power to name a few.

Darryl performed in bands playing guitar, bass, and drums up and down California and Nevada. Venues included all branches of the military and popular hot spots in and around the San Francisco bay area.
